Six Swindon
Dolphin swimmers jetted out on Sunday to take part in
the he largest ever European Masters Championships in
where more than 3,800 competitors registered for the six-day event.
Dolphins
will be among 100 British swimmers, synchronised swimmers and divers who compete for
honours in Kranj from 28 August to 2 September at the biggest sports extravaganza
ever held in
. Over 10,500 individual entries were received by the organisers for the 14 different
age groups.

Jones and with five
Dolphins named in the top three for their age group and event in the current FINA
Masters World Rankings, they have high
hopes of returning with their largest ever medal haul in international masters championships.
Jones (25)
in the 100m breaststroke, and Audis (26) in
the 50m and 100m backstroke are now both ranked number one in the world in the 25-29
year age group.
Manley has
a world ranking of two in the men’s 100m freestyle event in his age group and Cryer is
number two in the world in the men’s 200m breaststroke (40-44 years). Nigel
Masters (36) is ranked three in the men’s 200m breaststroke in the 35-39
year age group.
Defending
titles from the 2005 European Masters Championships are Audis in
the 200m backstroke and 200m IM, Manley in
the 100m and 200m freestyle and the Men’s 4x50m medley
relay.
