Dolphin was represented by a mix of youth and experience at their first target meet
of the season last Saturday. The Level 3 meet, the First Tiverton Sparkler at
Exe Valley Leisure Centre, saw 40 Dolphin swimmers complete over 180 races, amassing
60 podium finishes, 122 PBs – more than two out of every three swims – and 52 Wiltshire
Qualifying Times.

Sam Hunter (9 yrs)
It
was a particularly good day for 9 year olds’ Sam
Hunter and Alex
Chantler-Mayne, who completed six and five medal hauls
respectively, both including three first place finishes. Hunter’s medals came
in three different strokes. Hot on the heels of the three times winners was
another 9 year old, two times winner Maddie
Easter, who was matched by Niall
Westman, a relative veteran at 10 years old and, representing
the older generation, 15 year old Lucy Bouverie-Brine.
Other gold medal winners were Craig Lofts, Miriam
Bermingham, Charlotte
Pitts, Sarah
Baker, Darcy
James, Ben Clark, Bradley
McCabe and Dani
Harris, completing a total of 20 wins.
Dolphin
finished a successful day at this very well organised and friendly gala winning the
trophy for top club amongst the 15 competing, edging out second placed Newquay Cormorants
and third placed Chard & District. Less than three months into the season
this is an excellent start for Swindon Dolphin. The club will be represented
at the Wroughton 50m sprint competition next weekend with some less experienced
swimmers hoping to add to their competition skills at that meet.
