The
opening day of this year’s Wiltshire County Championships saw Mel
Agius and Jose
Prunty dominate the Girls 800m event at Marlborough
College, claiming first place in the Open and Junior Championships respectively, with Prunty taking
second place in the Open competition. 17
year old, Agius also
achieved a Wiltshire Age Group record. There
were personal best times for Beth
Preston and Megan
Jones, whilst an impressive swim from Charlotte
Pitts saw her secure her qualification for the regional
competition at this distance.
A
small group of boys swam in the 1,500m event, with Cathal
Westman picking up third place in both the Open and
Junior Championships, ahead of James
Clark in fourth,
Clark
’s swim
seeing him achieve a Regional Qualifying Time. Liam
Tubb and John
Waite also took the opportunity to put some BAGCAT
points on the board.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth
Beckett came
within a second of her National Qualifying Time at the ASA South West Regional 800m
Long Course Time Trials at Millfield on Saturday.
