Dolphin Masters Synchronised Swimming Team were in action at the weekend at the Doncaster Open Meet and in a shock result for the novices came away with the overall Top Team title.
In the team event, the sextet of Nigel Masters, Jon Audis, Dave Gingell, Brian Davies, Mike Eaton and Graham Cox produced an outstanding performance to the sounds of Abba, picking up maximum points from one of the judges. This was largely due to a superb ballet leg double from Brian and Jon and some accurate reverse combined spins from Nigel and Mike.
The trio event by John Drake, Paul Kirk and Doug Alexander were equally impressive with some fine combinations of rocket splits and spins preceded by some great deckwork.
The Dolphin team have been training under the guidance of top Italian coach Lori Paflo who commented after the event “I was very impressed with the way the team coped with the conditions. They have trained hard in the run up to this event and they should do extremely well at the forthcoming World Championships in Barnsley”.
