Last weekend, 41 Dolphin swimmers competed at the Portsmouth Northsea Easter Swimming Festival at the Victoria Swimming Centre, Portsmouth. The event took place over five days and turned out to be a big test of stamina for those racing over several days. It also gave all swimmers the opportunity of facing up to largely unknown opposition.
Depite the medal places being largely dominated by the host club, most swimmers produced some good personal best times, with Victoria Tainty and Georgina Pitts adding themselves to the ranks of regional qualifiers.
Adding some variety to the meet was the mystery skins in which the top six placed 200 individual medley swimmers in each age group competed in a 50m sprint knockout competition with the stroke for each round being selected at random. Most successful Dolphin swimmer in the event was Charlotte Pitts who came first in the girls 12 years, with Sam Berry coming third in the same event. Also making the finals of the event were Elizabeth Beckett, Jon Audis and James Clark.
