Fifteen Dolphin swimmers headed to the south coast last weekend for the Bournemouth Dolphins Level 3 Open Meet.
For the Junior, Senior, National and Development squad swimmers who attended it was an opportunity put their racing skills to the test against competition made up largely from south coast based clubs; a welcome change from the all too familiar clubs and swimmers of Wiltshire.
Many swimmers found the going tough and despite some excellent performances and setting personal best times, could only manage lower placings. However, the 71 swims from the squad yielded 10 medals with Ben Clark as top performer with a gold in the 100m breaststroke and silvers in the 50m and 100m freestyle. Scarlet Cholod made some fine efforts to take gold in the 50m breaststroke and silver in the 100m freestyle. Other medal winners were Thomas Newbery (silver 100m backstroke and bronze 50m backstroke), Rebecca Saunders (50m backstroke), Zoe Pattenden (50m breaststroke) and Patrick Seed (50m breaststroke).
