Swindon Dolphin Water Polo Team completed two comfortable victories on Saturday as they warmed up for their first National League fixtures of the season next weekend. The National League 3rd division side were invited to compete at the Premier League Tournament at Bristol University to help separate other fixtures.
Dolphin played their first game against Frome, a match deemed the knock-out Cup 3rd/4th play-off following both side’s elimination from the competition at the semi-final stage. Swindon started the fixture well, opening up an early lead, eventually winning comprehensively by 24 goals to 8.
The second of the Dolphin fixtures was against a league invitational side, featuring players from Frome, Weston Super-Mare, Bristol University and Bristol Central II. Again Dolphin started the fixture well, playing a lot of flowing Polo and achieving another emphatic victory by 21 goals to 7.
After the tournament coach David Quinlivan commented that he was really pleased with the way the team had performed with special praise to new recruits Jappe Deckar and Matt Elliott. Quinlivan said “Both these lads are new to the side but they have come in and fitted in with the team and will certainly help to strengthen us.”
Dolphin start their Division 3 National League campaign this coming weekend with matches against South Derbyshire, Hucknall and Caledonia at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
