The Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) recently announced a further increase in the number of clubs applying for and gaining accreditation for swim21, the association’s “quality mark”. This award recognises a club’s commitment to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their swimmers and non-swimming members.
Accreditation is available at four levels – Teaching, Skill Development, Competitive Development and Performance – and involves a detailed process of auditing and producing and implementing an improvement plan to achieve key objectives.
The swim21 National Panel saw 30 new accreditations submitted for validation plus 21 clubs re-submitting applications for a further term of which eight, including Swindon Dolphin, succeeded in adding further levels of accreditation.
This puts Dolphin in the position of being the only club in Wiltshire and one of only six in the South West to have reached the level of Competitive Development.
Tony Stratford, the club’s swim21 co-ordinator commented “A very well done to all those who worked so hard to gain additional qualifications, improve administration systems and to the swimmers who gained entry into regional and national championships. All of these elements helped us to achieve this prestigious award.”
