Looking to build on the successes at the recent Tiverton Open Meet, a squad of 33 Swindon Dolphin swimmers were at the Link last weekend at the Tigersharks Level 3 Open Meet.
Most swims were well within the county qualifying standard with Conor Mcgilligan leading the way by hitting the mark in all eight swims. The 10 year old also looks set to make the regional grade for next year, coming within a few percent of the mark in four events. James Watson finished the weekend with a full house of six qualifying swims and like Mcgilligan came within striking distance of regional times in the 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle.
Swimmers hitting new county times include Bethani Crouch (50m freestyle, 100m and 200m individual medley), Jake Lewis (50m freestyle and 50m backstroke), Lucy Bailey (100m individual medley and 100m breaststroke), and Emily Dixon with an impressive 200m butterfly. Dixon was also rewarded with her efforts with a gold medal in the event as well as a silver in the 200m freestyle. Other medallists were James Watson (4 gold, 1 bronze), Bradley McCabe (1 gold), James Chantler (2 silver, 1 bronze), Craig Harris (2 silver), Ben Sarachi (1 gold), Bethani Crouch (1 silver, 1 bronze), Conor Mcgilligan (1 silver, 1 bronze), Lucy Bailey (1 silver), Stephanie Dabbs (1 silver), Thomas Newbery (1 bronze).
