The Western Counties ASA Regional Championships drew to a close last weekend with the final two days of BAGCAT competition at Millfield 50m pool. The final event of the Championships saw a superb swim by Dolphin’s Alex Chantler-Mayne earn the 12 year old another gold medal and national qualifying time in the 800m freestyle to add to the 1,500m achieved the previous week.
Also picking up medals for Dolphin were Charlotte Pitts (gold; 200m freestyle and 800m freestyle, bronze; 400m individual medley), James Watson (bronze; 400m individual medley) and Mathew Sambrook (bronze; 200m backstroke). Watson also made finals in the 200m individual medley and 200m backstroke finishing 6th in both. Other finalists were Georgina Pitts (200m freestyle and 100m butterfly), Ben Sarachi (200m individual medley, 200m backstroke and 200m freestyle) and Lauren Matthews (200m freestyle).
In the overall BAGCAT competition, six Dolphin swimmers made the top eight in their age groups: James Watson (6th), Ben Sarachi (8th), Alex Chantler-Mayne (8th), Georgina Pitts (7th), Charlotte Pitts (4th) and Lauren Matthews (8th).
