Event: Wroughton Sprints
Venue: Ridgeway Leisure Centre, Wroughton
Date: 28th November 2010
The number of Swindon Dolphin county qualifiers topped the 100 mark last weekend, with new qualifiers Jake Lewis, Lucy Purnell, Tom Halford and Abigail Martin-Hicks making the grade at the Wroughton Sprint Competition.
The four were part of a squad of 25 from Dolphin most of whom were existing qualifiers and either added new events to their county portfolios or improved their times on existing ones.
Swimmers achieving personal bests in all four of the 50m events were Bethan Jones, Daniel Dixon, Laura Brown, Lucy Bailey and Megan Jones, all clearly benefiting from training within the newly formed County Squads. Daniel Dixon made particularly significant gains in his personal best times, touching home a fraction outside the qualifying mark in the 50m breaststroke.
Top medallists for Dolphin were Lucy Purnell (4 gold), Georgia Dicks (3 gold, 1 silver), Laura Brown (3 gold, 1 bronze), Lucy Bailey (2 gold, 1 bronze), Katy Coleman (1 gold, 1 silver), Tom Halford (1 gold, 1 bronze). Also with podium finishes were Abigail Ross, Ben Emmerson, Danielle Lewis, Georgia Miller, Jake Lewis, Kayleigh Bartlett, Kyle Greenwood, Louise Gardo, Lucie Wells, Megan Jones and Millie Jeans.
