Event: Swindon Dolphin Last Chance Level 3 Open Meet
Venue: Link Centre
Date: 29th and 30th January 2011
The Swindon Dolphin Last Chance Level 3 Meet took place last weekend at the Link Centre including a bumper entry from the host club. Most were looking to notch up county qualifying times with a few looking one stage ahead of this to make the regional grade.
Kyle Greenwood’s potential was finally realised as he qualified for his first ever county championships hitting the mark in four events, whilst Louise Gardo at last stepped out of the shadows as she also made the county grade in four of her swims. Other first time county qualifiers included Megan S Jones, David Ward, Harry Brooker, Kacie Clements and Kieran Jefferies. Almost 100 new qualifying times from the Dolphin contingent ensured that the majority of the Age Group qualifiers have now qualified in all of their BAGCAT categories, giving them a real chance of success in the overall BAGCAT awards at the forthcoming County Championships.
Emily Dixon confirmed her regional qualifier status as she swam under the required time unsurprisingly in the 50m and 100m butterfly but also unpredictably in the 50m backstroke. Adam Coleman goes from strength to strength as he recorded an incredible six regional times over the two days of competition. Also recording his first regional qualifying time of the season was Liam Jefferies with Alex Chantler-Mayne, Ben Sarachi, Georgia Dicks, James Watson and Rebecca Matthews all adding to their existing portfolios.
Swindon Dolphin’s teaching and coaching program has so far this season produced 112 county qualifiers, 33 regional qualifiers and four national qualifiers; a testament to the hard work and dedication of the swimmers as well as the poolside teaching and coaching team.
