Dolphin’s Liam Herbert has been selected to be part of a Beacon Programme Regional Training Group at the new 50m pool atHengrovePark, Bristol; one of only a few long course pools within the region.
The initiative is part of the England Talent Development Programme, as part of the Beacon programme investment in the ASA South West region and the programme is part of the ASA’s strategy towards enhancing opportunities for English athletes to achieve success at international level.
With only a handful of the region’s top performing swimmers selected, the training sessions are designed to compliment the swimmers’ home club programme, and include land based work as well as education on nutrition and lifestyles.
Dolphin Chief Coach Louise Clayton was delighted with the selection. “As one of our swimmers who has already qualified for the National Youth Championships in July, this gives Liam a fantastic opportunity to experience more long course training than usual which is something that should clearly benefit his performance at the Championships”.
