Event: Swim Bournemouth Level 2 Open Meet
Venue: Littledown Centre, Bournemouth
Date: 6th and 7th April 2013
A Dolphin squad of 17 headed to the south coast last weekend for the Swim Bournemouth Level 2 Open Meet at the Littledown Centre. The meet was an ideal opportunity for swimmers to compete against little known competitors away from the relative comfort of county based competitions.
Aaron Knight enjoyed a busy weekend of racing, reaping the rewards with significant improvements in previous best times over all nine events and looking particularly strong in the arduous 200m butterfly. Starting to show signs of a return to form, Denice Gardo made a 30 second improvement in her 400m freestyle time whilst Samuel Elliott also continues to impress as he made personal best gains in all his seven events and is fast homing in on hitting his first regional qualifying time.
Millie Jeans added the 200m backstroke to her 100m time achieved at the Wiltshire Championships in March whilst Sophie Bartlett impressively hit the regional standard in six swims. Andrew Cox was looking to add to his 50m freestyle regional consideration time and despite making improvements since his last attempt at Yeovil in December, was just shy of the mark in three events.
Dolphin’s most successful medallist was Josh Fox with 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze with Sophie Bartlett just behind with 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze. Other podium finishes went to Samuel Elliott (1 silver, 2 bronze), Millie Jeans (silver and bronze), Georgia Dicks (silver and bronze), Gemma Lucas (silver), Lucie Wells (silver), Calum Marriott (2 bronze), Eliza Garrett (bronze).
